Apple will upgrade the AirPods Max to allow lossless audio.

In April, iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 for AirPods Max with USB-C will be released with the additional functionality.

With the accompanying USB-C cable, Apple is incorporating lossless and ultra-low latency audio into the AirPods Max.

According to a news release issued by the company on Monday, March 24, the new functionalities will be available in April as part of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4 for AirPods Max with USB-C.

According to Apple, “this update will unlock 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio with AirPods Max, preserving the integrity of original recordings and allowing listeners to experience music the way the artist created it in the studio.” Lossless audio will also be available with personalized spatial audio.

Apple said that music producers will be able to mix and produce songs in personalized spatial audio with head tracking thanks to the lossless, high-resolution, low-latency digital audio.

Ultra-low latency audio, which is comparable to the native built-in speakers on Mac, iPad, and iPhone, is especially advantageous for gamers and livestreamers since it drastically reduces lag time. According to the IT giant, “gaming and livestreaming become dependable, smooth, and even more immersive for users with no response delay.”

At the moment, the AirPods Max with USB-C costs Rs 59,900 in India and can be purchased through Apple Authorized Resellers, the Apple Store app, and apple.com/in/store. Midnight, starlight, blue, purple, and orange are its five color options.

Additionally, Apple is charging Rs 3,900 for a USB-C to 3.5 mm audio cable. The AirPods Max can be connected to 3.5 mm audio sources, such as car stereos, external speakers, or an airplane’s audio-out connection.
