Israel’s military claimed that several attempts were made to intercept’ the missile launched by the Houthis in Yemen, a rare Huthi attack that got past Israel’s air defenses.
In a video posted on the Telegram messaging app, Netanyahu stated, “We have acted against them in the past, and we will act in the future, but I cannot go into detail (…) it will not happen in one bang, but there will be many bangs.”
Earlier, Yemen’s Iran-backed Huthi rebels claimed responsibility for an attack on Sunday when a missile struck inside the perimeter of Israel’s largest airport, hurting six people, stopping flights, and gouging a wide crater.
In a rare Huthi attack that got past Israel’s air defenses, the Israeli military said that “several attempts were made to intercept” the missile launched from Yemen.
The nation’s security cabinet will meet in the evening, an official informed AFP.
Officers could be seen standing on the brink of a large hole in the ground with the control tower visible behind them in a police video. There were no reports of airport infrastructure being damaged.
A “missile impact” at Israel’s main international entrance was reported by the police.
For the next two to three days, a number of airlines, including Air India, have chosen to suspend flights to Tel Aviv.
Following a missile assault on Israel’s main international airport, Air India announced that it had halted flights to Tel Aviv till May 6.
“Our operations to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended with immediate effect till May 6, 2025, to ensure the safety of our customers and staff,” the airline stated in a statement.
Following a rocket assault on Israel’s largest international airport, the German airline group Lufthansa announced that it had canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 6. The group indicated that the “current situation” was the reason for the service halt. Its carriers include Eurowings, Swiss, Austrian, and Brussels Airlines.
After a missile claimed by the Houthi struck inside the boundary of Israel’s largest international airport, British Airways said that it was suspending all flights to and from Tel Aviv until May 7.
In a statement provided to AFP, the airline stated, “We have decided to suspend all of our flights to and from Tel Aviv, up to and including BA405 on Wednesday, 7 May, as we continue to monitor operating conditions.”
