Starting Sunday, June 1, WhatsApp will no longer work on some outdated iPhones. If you or someone you know is still using an outdated model, it’s time to double-check.

To continue using WhatsApp, your iPhone has to be running iOS 15.1 or later. If your phone is stuck on an older iOS version that cannot be updated, WhatsApp will no longer work.
Here are the iPhone models that will lose WhatsApp support starting June 1:
iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus.

However, there is some positive news. These last three models can still be updated to iOS 15.8.4, which means WhatsApp will continue to support them—at least for the time being. So if you have one of these and it is fully updated, you don’t need to be concerned just yet.
This update was scheduled for May 5 but was pushed out to June 1. While many people have already upgraded to newer phones, older versions are still widely utilized as backup phones or by those who do not require the most recent features. This adjustment may surprise some users.
To see if your phone is affected, navigate to Settings > General > About and check the iOS version. If it’s less than 15.1 and your phone won’t update, you should consider updating if you want to continue using WhatsApp.
