Following the horrific terror incident in Pahalgam, the Ministry of External Affairs declared on Wednesday that the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan would be put on hold.
The temporary suspension of the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan was one of several decisions made during the Cabinet Committee on Security, which was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his home, according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri further declared that all Pakistani nationals in the nation would not be granted visas and that the Integrated Check Post at the Wagah-Attari border would be closed immediately.
Following the heinous terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people—mostly tourists—decisions have been made.
The MEA made the following significant announcements:
- The Indus Water Treaty between Pakistan and India is on hold
- All Pakistani nationals in India have had their visas suspended and have been instructed to go within 48 hours.
- The Wagah-Attari border’s Integrated Check Post was shut down immediately.
- India will take its military personnel out of Pakistan.
- The declaration of persona non grata was made for all Pakistani military attachés in India.
