It is believed that the iPhone 17 Air will be the thinner, more powerful, and maybe portless iPhone of the future.
Compared to the current iPhone 16 series, the 2025 lineup of the Apple iPhone 17 series is probably going to look considerably different. The iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be the thinnest iPhone ever, is set to replace the iPhone 16 Plus. According to a Bloomberg story released on Sunday, this gadget is also anticipated to be the iPhone of the future.
According to the story, Apple originally intended for the iPhone 17 Air to be the first iPhone without a port. However, Apple has added a USB-C port due to regulatory restrictions, particularly those imposed by the EU. Otherwise, the iPhone 17 Air, which reflects Apple‘s future approach for iPhones, would have just used wireless data transfer and charging.
According to reports, the iPhone 17 Air is noticeably thinner than other smartphones, maybe with the exception of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
Additionally, it is anticipated to keep all of the iPhone 16’s ports and buttons, like the Action Button, Camera Capture button, side button, and physical volume buttons. This makes it quite evident that future iPhones will still have physical buttons, even though they may eventually become portless. An iPhone without a button is still a long way off.

The design of the iPhone 17 series is anticipated to be very different from that of the iPhone 16 series. According to a rumor from Naver Blog, Apple will replace the iPhone 17 Plus with the iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro Max with the iPhone 17 Ultra, although the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro will still be available.
This means that the iPhone 17 Ultra, which will be Apple’s ultimate flagship device and have the greatest technology available, is anticipated to provide a radically new user experience.
With the next versions, Apple is apparently focusing on redesigning iOS and macOS with the goal of improving the user experience once more.
