Early in May, Huawei unveiled the Watch 4 series, which, at least conceptually, is one of the best smartwatches the firm has ever offered. After evaluating all the new features that HarmonyOS 3.0 offered, we received a device for review at the beginning of this month, and we are prepared to share our full impressions.
Build and Design
With an aerospace-grade titanium case and a fashionable strap, the Huawei Watch 4 Pro is made entirely of titanium. It is crucial for prospective customers to make sure the watch will fit on their wrists before placing an order because the screen is on the larger side at 48mm.
The watch’s overall looks are improved by the 1.5″ LTPO AMOLED screen, domed glass construction, and subtle bezels. The smartphone stands out thanks to the spherical Sapphire Glass on top, which adds to its distinctiveness.
Navigation and Sapphire Glass
Smartwatch manufacturers who use sapphire glass guarantee complete scratch resistance. We put the Watch 4 Pro through a variety of activities, including an ultramarathon in the mountains with shoulder-high grass and bushes, to test this assertion. Surprisingly, neither the screen nor the body had a scratch, demonstrating the durability of the product.
The menu navigation is made easier by the domed glass design, which also significantly increases the surface area. Additionally, the Watch 4 Pro has two programmable buttons and a rotating crown button for easy navigation and rapid access to health-related features.
New Features in Harmony OS 3.0
Harmony OS 3.0, which Huawei included with the Watch 4 series, adds a number of new functions and enhances the appeal of the Watch 4 Pro. Users can create their own watch faces, and there are over 100 widgets available. Its utility is increased even further with the incorporation of simple multitasking.
Huawei continues to place a high priority on health, and the Watch 4 Pro has many capabilities for keeping track of your wellbeing. The new Health Glance card makes it simple to obtain all the crucial health information in one location, including sleep patterns, body temperature, blood oxygen levels, heart rate, ECG, and arterial stiffness.
Battery life and connectivity
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and an eSIM card are all features of the Huawei Watch 4 Pro. We didn’t test the eSIM module during our study, but we did run into some minor Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity difficulties. The smartwatch and smartphone’s Bluetooth connectivity, which previously restricted to 802.11 b/g/n, might be improved, especially when connecting non-Huawei devices.
The Huawei Watch 4 Pro has a 780 mAh battery within for long-lasting power. Without enabling Always-On Display (AOD), the gadget guarantees up to 4.5 days of normal use. But depending on the watch face you choose, the battery life may differ. Battery life was decreased to about three days when AOD was activated. There is also an Ultra-long Battery Life mode on the Watch 4 Pro, which disables mobile data, Wi-Fi, and internet-related capabilities yet still provides an amazing 20 days of daily use.
Verdict
With its titanium construction, Sapphire Glass that resists scratches, and Harmony OS 3.0 features, the Huawei Watch 4 Pro offers a premium experience. Its appeal is enhanced by the health monitoring features and movable widgets, making it a good option for those who are concerned about their health.
However, some users may be concerned about the slow communication with non-Huawei devices and the sporadic network troubles. Existing Huawei smartwatch owners might require assistance identifying important updates in this model.
The Huawei Watch 4 Pro is an attractive alternative for anyone searching for a dependable, robust smartwatch with a long battery life and good aesthetics.
