‘Small Number’ Of Amazon Employees Are Laid Off, And This Section Is Affected

Here's Why Amazon Is Asking Certain Employees To Relocate.

80 employees, according to reports, have been let go by Amazon from its Pharmacy division. According to the business, some responsibilities on the team were terminated as a result of the decision to restructure resources.

According to CNBC, Amazon confirmed the team’s Amazon Pharmacy Services layoffs. According to the article and another brand-new website called Semafora, about 80 staff were let go.

According to Amazon spokesperson Brad Glasser, “like many businesses, we are constantly improving our processes, for both quality and efficiency, and identifying how we can deliver on the best customer experience.”

As a result, Glasser continued, “we have decided to change our resource allocation, and a limited number of roles have been terminated on the Amazon Pharmacy Services team.

The Amazon Pharmacy division, which was established in 2020, had employment losses early this year. Employees working on Halo’s health and fitness trackers as well as digital health solutions have previously been affected by job cuts, according to CNBC.

Amazon purchased PillPack in 2001, followed by the launch of Amazon Care, a telehealth service, and the announcement of its acquisition of healthcare provider One Medical for $3.9 billion last year.

Amazon’s previous job cuts

Amazon announced 9,000 additional job cutbacks in March after originally laying off 18,000 workers over a period of many months. The largest layoffs in the e-commerce behemoth’s 29-year history number 27,000 workers.

Approximately 500 employees from Amazon’s many companies and activities, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), human resources, and support operations, were reportedly laid off in India in May of this year.

CEO Andy Jassy stated earlier this year that the choice was made to reduce costs. The company’s retail, devices, recruiting and human resources, cloud computing, advertising, and Twitch livestreaming divisions were all affected by the layoffs.
